Wolf Trail Auction

27/10/2015     Contemporary Art & Design, General

Since July Bury St Edmunds has been under invasion by a pack of wolves.

However, far from terrifying the population they have been a welcome addition to our town and attracted visitors from far and wide. The 26 artworks, made of stained glass, crochet, willow, wood, topiary, and metal (amongst others), are all depictions of the legendary wolf which guarded St Edmunds' head after those dastardly Vikings murdered him in about 870. Thankfully, the wolf could speak (in Latin at that) and called out 'Hic Hic Hic' (Here Here Here) to Edmunds' supporters who retrieved and buried the head.

The art trail, which was instigated by the Our Bury St Edmunds team has been a huge success, with thousands of people competing to track down every last wolf dotted around the town. The wolves were all individually created by local artists and reflect many different styles and mediums.

And now is your chance to own one!..
Most of the wolves are being auctioned to raise money for charity at two events. A gala evening was held at The Athenaeum on St Edmunds Day (20th November) which included an auction conducted by our very own Eddie Crichton. The remaining artworks will be included in our 5th December auction.
