Lot details

Grande Champagne Cognac, 1808, J. Denis Mounie & Co, one bottle (bottle dirty, capsule good, mid-shoulder, labels discoloured but complete), with further label stating 'This historic bottle was presented by HM King George VI when Duke of York for an auction in aid of Queen Charlotte's Hospital Fund, and was sold on April 12th 1937 to the Marquis of Queensbury for the then high price of £30', another bottle was sold by Tennant's Auctioneers of North Yorkshire (lot 264, sale 26th November 2011) for £1,700 hammer price, the catalogue description makes reference to this particular bottle.
