A pair of early 19th century English porcelain allegorical figures, emblematic of America and Africa, each as a standing woman, America with quiver of arrows and attendant alligator, Africa with goblet and attendant camel, each decorated in bright enamels and raised on Rococo swept bases heightened in gilt (both with losses), America with gold anchor mark verso, h.27cm; together with a circa 1800 Derby porcelain bocage figure of a huntswoman with attendant fawn, on swept base (restored), h.31cm (3)

Condition report

America - most of bow missing, losses to crown, significant loss to rear of base, hairline to rear of base, colours good.

Africa - significant loss to both sides of front of base, loss to camel ear, small loss to flowers on headpiece, minor losses to flowers at her feet, colours good.

Derby huntswoman - right arm restored from elbow, loss to left thumb, chip to back of robe, losses to floral bocage, fawn front right leg restored.

You can bid through our website or email commission bids to (include your full contact details, lot number and bid amount). Telephone bids can be booked for lots with an estimate of £300+, please call our offices to arrange this.

You can also register and bid live while the auction is taking place through our LSKlive portal (3% plus VAT surcharge applies) which becomes available half an hour before the auction is due to start.  This  platform uses technology and is completely secure.  Once you have registered your details through our website, you won't need to re-register for future sales - just sign in and start bidding!  Please note that if you register for our auction on first, then you will be liable for their 4.95% plus VAT fee instead of our 3% (plus VAT) fee.

Of course, you are also very welcome to come along on the day!  We are located in the heart of beautiful Bury St Edmunds and have our own car park.  


Most Mainland UK parcels can be sent in-house for our flat standard rate of £18 for up to 3 lots and £1.50 per lot thereafter.  European shipping rates and further details can be found here.

For outside of Europe, large or high value lots we recommend MailBoxes (details will be sent along with your invoice). If you choose an alternative courier we can pack for £8 per parcel.
