Elvis Presley Records Auction

21 Mar, 2014 11:00 AM

A single owner collection of Elvis Presley records to include virtually every British release as well as rare editions and double A-sides.

Hundreds of mint to near-mint  records to include; shellac 78rpm & 45rpm records, factory fresh HMV records, the 1958 RCA Re-released singles originally issued on HMV, some Irish pressings with covers specific to individual shops in Ulster, 1st pressings of all Elvis records on (sometimes shortly before) the day of release bought from the Elvis Presley Record Club (including copies of rarely seen records such as "Judy/There's Always me" in 1967), mono and living stereo Decca for RCA copies of the 1960s albums (when RCA opening its own pressing plant in Tyne & Wear, and introduced the Orange label), rarely seen British pressings of Elvis records from 1974/5 during the Middle East oil crisis when RCA's pressing plant found it very difficult to acquire supplies of virgin vinyl, the first copy of the first pressing of "Way Down" which was released at the time of Elvis's death, and many moreā€¦

This collection represents one man's devotion to a legendary man and his music. Local teacher Bill Wood began collecting in the 1950s while growing up in Northern Ireland and helping out at his dad's motor vehicle business. His dedication to collecting Elvis' work continued right the way through to the great man's death in 1977 and Bill's move to Suffolk in 1978 where he discovered Andy's Records, Virgin/our Price and the HMV shops around East Anglia as well as the Record and Tape Exchange shop in Ipswich. However,"As retirement beckons I feel the time has come to say goodbye to this wonderful collection and I hope you will derive as much pleasure from owning parts of the collection as I did in assembling it over many decades".
