Standard Motor Company was founded in 1903 in Coventry by Reginald Maudslay, it initially manufactured single cylinder combustion engines around which the first Standard Motor car was designed and built. These were quickly replaced by twin cylinders followed by 3 then 4 cylinder designs. Standard flourished throughout the Edwardian period and produced large and expensive vehicles prior to the Great War. During the war, Standard manufactured considerable numbers of aero engines which kept the firm financially strong. However, post war civilian production did not fair as well, by the late 1920's a rationalisation of the firms products had to be made and just one model, the Standard Nine prevailed. Following the appointment of John Black in 1929 as joint Managing Director, the fortunes of the company improved. During the first half of the 1930's good quality motor cars were produced ranging from the Nine, Ten, Twelve, Sixteen to the Twenty, ranging in capacity from 1006cc to 2664cc (4 or 6 cylinder side valves).
The Standard on offer is believed to be either a Ten or Twelve, the entire car has been dismantled and can only be described as a full restoration project.
The vehicle as described above has been dismantled for restoration and some work has been undertaken. Potential purchasers are invited to inspect this lot in order to ascertain the condition and completeness of what is on offer.

Jewellery, watches, coins and high value small items will be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery with maximum insurance of £2500.
Please note that this service is NOT insured, therefore if purchasers require further cover, then they must arrange this themselves. Alternatively we can send by Parcelforce 48 with insurance charged at £4 upto £500 cover, £8-£1000 cover, £12-£1500 and £20-£2500 cover. Lacy Scott & Knight accept no liability for items which are damaged or lost during postage, and cannot and will not assist in any claims unless insurance cover has been taken out. If you instruct your own courier packing is charged at £8 per parcel. Please give clear instructions when settling your account as to your shipping requirements so that we can process full payment and ship within 10 working days.
