Fine Art & Antiques

10 Jun, 2017 10:00 AM

Quarterly Fine Art sales are held every March, June, September and December, encompassing approximately 600 lots that include antiquarian books, fine English, Continental and Oriental Ceramics, period glass, silver, jewellery and watches, works of art, pictures and prints, clocks and barometers, rugs, and fine furniture and furnishings.

Please note that all lots are subject to Buyers Premium of 21% (inclusive of VAT).

Live bidding is available at thesaleroom - please note that a 3% surcharge applies to lots bought through this platform.

Important Notice:  Due to high levels of fraud in the buying of gold and related items, we have had to introduce the following measures for gold and jewellery items:

  • The maximum payment by credit/debit card over the telephone is £500.  We strongly recommend buyers use the bank transfer facility.
  • Gold & jewellery items paid for by card over the telephone will not be shipped or released to couriers for at least 5 working days after payment has been made.

We trust that potential buyers understand why we have taken these precautions. and that by being vigilant we hope to reduce the instances of credit card fraud which affect not just auction houses, but also vendors, and the unsuspecting owners of fraudulently used credit cards.

Postage information

Items within the catalogue marked with an * are from the private residence of Derek & Valerie Roberts, BADA members and specialist clock dealers for over 40 years.  Clock enthusiasts will be of aware of the Roberts' importance within the world of horology, and may even own copies of Dereks books, the first of which British Skeleton Clocks was published in 1987, and most recently A Life with Antiques Clocks published in 2010.  The Roberts are currently downsizing from their home on the Lewins Estate in Kent (inset), and we are delighted to be offering some of their personal effects within this auction.
