The Rodney Count Collection - 50 Years of Collecting

Our Toys & Models department manager Oliver Leggett had never seen anything like it. Virtually every inch of floor and wall space was covered in toys and models of every description. No sooner had one cabinet been cleared, than another one appeared behind it laden with more toys. It gradually dawned on Ollie that we were going to need to schedule a stand-alone sale - so here it is!

Rodney lived all his life in the village of Fordham, Cambridgeshire, and whilst a very keen gardener, it was clear from the moment we stepped foot into Rodney's House, that his main passion was Toy Collecting. Rodney's enthusiasm began 50 years ago when his wife Marion, after travelling to her native Scotland, brought back a single toy as a present for Rodney. From this moment on, Rodney and Marion indulged their interest with a passion as they regularly visited toy fairs, swap-meets, steam rallies and toy auctions, buying a diverse range of toys but with a strong liking for tinplate toys of all shapes and size. However, as the collection begun to grow, other toy categories begun to enter the frame, and these include Dinky Toys, Corgi Toys, Matchbox, Spot-On, Britain's, British and German tinplate and much, much more!!

This specialist single owner sale will take on place on Friday 20th November at 11am and features approximately 700 lots from various categories taken from the toy world as listed above. With a large proportion of the sale focusing around tinplate toys from all corners of the globe.
