The collection, which was sold without reserve on Saturday
1st October, includes thousands of real photographs,
oilettes, chromo-lithos, printed colour cards, pop-outs, 'hold to
light', kaleidoscope, 'look-thro', embroidered and woven silks
etc
Subjects ranged from topographical (UK regions &
Cities, Worldwide interest and many local examples), general
military & World War One, disasters, Titanic interest,
greetings cards, mourning cards, Naval interest, Artist cards (to
include Donald McGill, Louis Wain, Harry Payne, Ernest Ibbetson,
Tom Browne, Mabel Lucie Atwell, Bruce Bairnsfather, Reg Carter and
many others), animal interest, comic & humorous, glamour
images, song & poetry, Valentine Series, cathedrals &
churches, street scenes, floral interest, advertising interest,
gatherings & groups (to include school children, soldiers,
sports teams etc), BBC interest, celebrity cinema interest,
erotica, Royalty interest, transport etc
