BUYER'S PREMIUM
All lots purchased are subject to Buyer's Premium at 17.5% (plus VAT at the prevailing rates). Please note that there is no VAT charged on the premium for books.

BIDDING
Bids can be made in person, by leaving a commission bid with a member of staff, by telephone, online or via email (remember to include your full address and a telephone number), or live online for selected sales.

Prospective sale day buyers are required to register at reception. You will be asked to provide your name, address and telephone number to substantiate this with some form of ID i.e. driving license or credit card, then you will be given a bidding number. This numbered bidding system ensures confidentiality.

The minimum bid that we can accept is £5.

COMMISSION BIDS
Commission bids can be accepted from potential buyers who are unable to attend the auction. This service allows the Auctioneer to bid on behalf of prospective purchasers up to their maximum bid, allowing for other bids and reserves, if any.

Commission bidding forms are available in the Saleroom or printed in the catalogues.  Alternatively, you can telephone or email the Auction Centre with your bids (remember to include your full address and telephone number). Bids can also be faxed to the Auction Centre on 01284 748620.

*We ALWAYS acknowledge bids - do not assume that your bids have been received unless we have replied to you.   

SELLING RATE
Our Auctioneers sell at approximately 140 lots per hour, buyers are advised to make sure that they are in the saleroom at least 20 minutes before a lot is expected to be offered in case the Auctioneer is ahead of schedule.

TELEPHONE BIDDING
A limited number of telephone lines are available to those clients who are unable to attend the auction. Arrangements for this service should be made at least 24 hours before the beginning of the sale. We are only able to accept live telephone bidding on those lots expected to realise in excess of £300.

INTERNET BIDDING
You can bid live online via www.the-saleroom.com for our Fine Art & Antique sales, our Twentieth Century Design sales and our Collectors' Models sales.  

Please note that this service carries a 3% plus VAT surcharge.

CONDITION REPORTS
Specialists are happy to give condition reports on any lot where applicable.  These are easier sent by email and can be supported by further digital images.  All weights and measures given in the catalogue should be regarded as approximate. 

PAYMENT & CLEARANCE
Payment is due immediately after the auction in pounds sterling.  Please note that goods will not be released until payment is made in full.

We accept the following methods of payment:

  • Cash (up to a maximum of £10,000).
  • Cheque (supported by valid identification) made payable to Lacy Scott & Knight.
  • Banker's Draft.
  • Bank Transfer.

PACKING & SHIPPING

Lacy Scott & Knight recommend MailBoxes Etc to organise the packing and shipping goods purchased in the sales. To arrange a collection please contact John Shipley at Mail Boxes Etc giving them the lot number(s) and address to which the package should be sent. We realise that some clients would prefer to use alternative carriers. In these circumstances Lacy Scott and Knight are prepared to pack the goods ready for collection by carriers (such as UPS, InterLink etc), as long as sufficient notice is given and the items are not too big.  However, we are unable to pack goods and arrange for their shipping at this end. 

Whilst goods will be packed to the best of our abilities, we cannot and will not offer any guarantees against any damage or breakages that may be sustained during transit. Clients that require professional packing and insurance should instruct Mail Boxes Etc.

For small items such as watches, jewellery silver etc, Lacy Scott & Knight are prepared to pack these and post them via Royal Mail special delivery to UK addresses only at a cost £10 plus postage.
